A brand new box of crayons and some clean
white paper are often a child's first tools of creative self-expression.
In the hands of a five-year old, simple sticks of brightly colored wax can
initiate a lifelong appreciation of art.
Eventually, most kids grow out of the
Little Princess Phase. They stop coloring everything in sight, and discover
other interests and avenues of creativity. However, there are a gifted few,
like Holly Kitaura, that actually grow into their art instead.
As a child, Holly first painted with
mercurochrome from the medicine cabinet, then graduated to crayons and
colored pencils. Throughout adolescence and high school she drew and painted
hundreds of cheerfully vibrant abstract pieces, but never considered art as
a career. As far as she was concerned, art was just fun!
Each of Holly's works expresses her
vibrant fun-loving disposition and her extraordinary vision of the world.
Whether she is utilizing watercolors, acrylics, enamel, or shimmering
metallic auto paint, Holly doesn't think of painting as work. "I don't like
being serious," she says. "If I'm not having fun painting, then something is
very wrong."
Holly paints every day, simply because
she loves it, and that's probably why so many people have fallen in love
with Hollyvision.
You can find Holly's art in several art
galleries throughout Hawaii, including: Pictures Plus statewide; Diamond
Head Gallery, Waikiki Reef Hotel; Sunshine
Arts in Kaneohe; Haleiwa Art Gallery; Island Waves, Waikiki; Dreams of
Paradise, Hilo and Livingston Gallery at Crouching
Lion, Ka'a'awa. And, of course, many of her works are available here at Hollyvision.biz. |
